Minors and Massachusetts Personal Injury Law

Personal injury accidents often involve minors. Generally (with a few exceptions), a Massachusetts injury victim has three years from the date of the accident to file a claim for his injuries. But with minors, that rule is tweaked a little bit. For example, if a 16 year-old is involved in a Massachusetts car accident, or a Massachusetts slip and fall, or any other type of Massachusetts accident, he can bring a claim three years after the day he turns 18. Therefore, the Massachusetts statute of limitations for minors does not begin to run until the 18th birthday. It is important for parents to know this information if their child has been injured in a Massachusetts accident that caused personal injuries.
