1 killed in pedestrian crash on Rte 9 in Chestnut Hill

NEWTON, MA – One person died Tuesday morning when a vehicle struck them along the highway in southeast Newton, reports Boston 25 News.

The accident happened sometime before 6:30 a.m. on Route 9 near the Shops at Chestnut Hill in Chestnut Hill Village. This is 10 miles southwest of Boston.

The victim was attempting to cross the highway when a westbound car hit them.

The pedestrian succumbed to their injuries at the scene; they’ve not yet been named publicly.

The driver involved in the accident stopped to render aid and speak with police.

A full investigation is underway.
