1 airlifted in fiery motorcycle crash on I-93 in Andover

ANDOVER, MA – A motorcyclist was hurt Monday in a two-vehicle accident along the interstate in west-central Essex County, reports Andover News.

The incident occurred shortly after 6:30 p.m. along I-93 just south of River Road. This is on the northwest side of Andover, about 25 miles northwest of Boston.

Police haven’t yet disclosed the cause of the crash, which involved a motorcycle and a car. The impact of the collision, they say, caused the motorcycle to ignite, burning the operator.

Medics airlifted the motorcyclist to Brigham and Women’s Hospital with serious injuries.

Nobody in the second vehicle was hurt.

Officials closed both sides of I-93 while emergency teams attended to the victim and worked to clear the scene.

A full investigation is underway.
