CAMBRIDGE, MA – A 73-year-old man died Sunday from injuries sustained two days prior in a Cambridge crash caused by a drunk driver, reports WCVB 5.
The accident happened shortly before 1:30 a.m. in the area of Massachusetts Avenue and Vassar Street, which is near the campus of the Massachusetts Institute of Technology.
Police say that the 32-year-old driver of an SUV was likely intoxicated when she struck a moped and a police cruiser from behind.
Medics transported the moped operator to Massachusetts General Hospital with injuries that would ultimately prove fatal.
Authorities arrested the driver of the SUV, identified as Lauren Mullins of Roselle Park, on OUI charges. Those charges may change now that the victim has succumbed to his injuries.
A full investigation is underway.
