DARTMOUTH, MA – A 62-year-old man sustained fatal injuries Wednesday in a multi-vehicle collision along the interstate in south-central Bristol County, reports WPRI 12 News.
The accident happened shortly before 11:30 a.m. on the westbound side of I-495 near Faunce Corner Road in the city of Dartmouth. This is about 57 miles south of Boston.
Police haven’t yet disclosed the cause of the wreck, which they say involved three vehicles, including an 18-wheeler. There’s no word regarding the manner in which the three vehicles impacted.
One of the drivers, identified as Anthony Moniz, succumbed to his injuries at the scene of the crash.
It’s unclear if anyone else sustained injuries in the collision.
Officials closed the westbound side of I-195 in the area of the wreck for around three hours while emergency crews worked at the scene.
