BOSTON, MA – Several people were hurt Tuesday in a pedestrian accident involving a box truck near Tufts University in central Boston, reports WCVB 5.
Shortly before 1 p.m., emergency teams responded to a major accident at the intersection of Kneeland Street and Harrison Avenue in the Chinatown area.
Police say that for unknown reasons, a yellow Penske rental truck drove onto the sidewalk and rolled onto its side after hitting a fire hydrant, a restaurant, and multiple pedestrians.
Four of the six people who sustained injuries required hospitalization. The driver was admitted to Mass. General in critical condition.
Officials closed Kneeland Street in the area of the wreck while crews attended to the victims and worked to clear the scene.
