NEWTON, MA – One person sustained injuries Monday night in an auto-pedestrian crash on the east side of Newton, reports Boston 25 News.
Around 7:30 p.m., emergency crews responded to the intersection of Commonwealth Avenue and Sumner Street, which is just northwest of the Newton Squash and Tennis Club.
Police say that an eastbound vehicle struck an unidentified pedestrian in the crosswalk.
Medics transported the victim to an area hospital with injuries of unknown severity.
It’s not yet clear if the driver involved in the crash stopped to render aid and to speak with authorities.
Motorists likely encountered delays in the area of the wreck while teams assisted the victim and worked to clear the scene.
A full investigation is underway.
