Even in the midst of the coronavirus pandemic, our personal injury law office in Boston is still fully operational. We are still taking on new cases, as well as successfully settling existing cases. Here are some of our recent personal injury settlements for the past week:
- Our client was operating an electric scooter in downtown Boston. He was traveling the wrong way on a one-way street. He was struck by a motor vehicle head-on, and as a result, sustained serious personal injuries. He was taken to a local hospital where he was treated and diagnosed with, among other injuries, a lacerated spleen. Legally, since he was on a skateboard, he is entitled to the legal protections afforded pedestrians. A claim was presented against the driver’s insurance policy with Safety Insurance. Despite the liability challenges presented by the case, we were able to successfully settle our client’s case for a confidential amount.
- Our client was injured while working. She slipped and fell backwards, striking her head. She was taken to the hospital and ultimately diagnosed with a concussion. A workers compensation claim was set-up, and our client began receiving weekly workers’ compensation checks. The insurance company filed a discontinuance with the Department of Industrial Accidents, seeking to have a judge allow it to stop paying our client her weekly workers’ comp checks. On the eve of conference, the case settled for a confidential sum via a lump sum settlement.
- Our client was involved in a Massachusetts car accident. She was pregnant at the time. Following the crash, she went to the hospital where she went through a battery of medical test to ensure that not only her baby was fine, but that she was ok. It was determined that she and her baby were ok. A claim for damages was filed against the at-fault driver’s insurance company, Commerce Insurance. We sent a demand to Commerce and shortly thereafter, we were able to settle the claim for our client for a confidential amount of money.
