Serving the Jamaica Plain Community Through Community Servings
On April 9th, 2021, we closed the office or a day to volunteer at an organization called Community Servings in Jamaica Plain!
Founded in 1990 by a combination of faith groups, AIDS activists, and community service organizations to provide home-delivered meals to individuals in Roxbury, Dorchester and Jamaica Plain, Community Servings mission is to provide small neighborhood meals through a regional program, serving nutritional meals and education to thousands of people per year across Massachusetts — all of whom are unable to shop or cook for themselves or their families due to a critical illness.
The team and I worked hard to help pass out these delicious meals during our shift in their Jamaica Plain location. Hunger is EVERYWHERE, and we are SO happy that we were able to help out last week with this incredible organization.
It was an amazing time where we got to bond together AND help our community. It was a true win/win!
Engaging in the volunteer work at Community Servings in Jamaica Plain was a gratifying experience that underscored the importance of community involvement. The organization’s commitment to delivering medically tailored meals to those facing critical illnesses resonated with our team’s values. Witnessing the impact of our collective efforts in providing not only nourishing food but also education to individuals unable to manage daily tasks due to health challenges was truly rewarding. It reaffirmed our belief in the power of community service as a catalyst for positive change. As we reflect on our day of service, it serves as a reminder that small actions, like distributing meals, can make a significant difference in the lives of those in need within our broader community.
